Meet Geoffrey

“Geoffrey has touched so many people and put a smile on so many faces.”

Every now and again, somebody special comes along who ‘breaks the mould’. Geoffrey Watling did just that. And despite Geoffrey’s passing on November 17th 2004, he continues to provide grants for charitable purposes through the charity created after the death of his daughter Carol.

Geoffrey was a remarkable character who not only had serial success in business but managed to enjoy his life and his success to the full, whilst making friendships a core of his DNA. As so many of those that knew him have said - ‘a true gentleman’.

Take a moment to look through these notes regarding Geoffrey’s business career, his involvement with Norwich City Football Club and his interest in entertainment which allowed him to mix business with pleasure. The ‘Watling Way’ gives more insights into this unique character.

By March 2020, The Geoffrey Watling Charity has, since Geoffrey’s death in 2004, donated over £8 M to local charities and charitable bodies. The Charity is managed by the trustees with help from the Charity and Grants Administrator.
